High-Point Wether Championship -
This award program is open to any wether produced by a CBGA member, maximum of 5 wethers
per producer. Points earned by each wether are determined by the number of market animals defeated by that wether in the show
that is claimed. The producer with the highest point total will be crowned the CBGA High Point Wether Producer. (See files
above for complete program information)
April Fools
Champion Market Goat sale: The CBGA has held an annual market goat sale at each April Fools weekend since 2006.
(With exception in 2010) Top breeders from all over Oregon and Washington bring their quality wethers to the sale. Wethers
are divided into groups by age, and the order that children pick is determined by random lottery. Many of the champion and
reserve champion animals at fairs across Washington and Oregon came from the sale! The CBGA does not charge any fees to breeders
or buyers for this sale; we believe that it fullfills our group's mission to donate the venue and staffing for the sale
which provides top quality animals to dedicated 4-H and FFA children who work hard at their projects and deserve a quality
animal to have the best chance possible at a successful project. Note: 100% of any profits from
the April Fools Boer Goat Weekend go to the CBGA for use in funding our other programs across the year.
CBGA Breeder's Cup Award
The Breeders Cup Award goes
to the breeder who bred the most wethers that sold at April Fools and received a Championship at their fair. CBGA Youth & Market Goat Show In summer 2007, the CBGA hosted the second day
of events at the Red, White & Boer Show. In addition to an open USBGA show, there was a youth showmanship competition
that featured nearly 70 participants! Classes were divided into five age groups, and we saw some of the finest showmanship
ever seen in the Northwest! Then two wether divisions were held. An April Fools division for those wethers purchased at the
Cascade Boer Goat Association's April Fools Market Goat Sale, and then an open wether division open to all comers. An
April Fools wether, bred by Just Kidding Farm, was the grand champion of both wether divisions.
Over $1,100 in cash prizes were awarded to the wether show participants.
In 2008, the CBGA again hosted the Cascade
Boer Goat Association's April Fools and open wether divisions. Additionally, there was a Bred-by-Exhibitor division. The
child must have owned the doe at the time of the breeding in order to show the offspring in the Bred-by-Exhibitor division,
and must have cared for the market goat continuously since its birth. The child is not required to own the sire of the wether,
however.
The 2009 CBGA Youth Show held at the Red, White & Boer Show was again a success. There were 98 entries
in the market goats, hot competition in the showmanship classes, and new for 2009 was a judging clinic and competition run
by Shelby Armstrong (ABGA judge).
At
the 2010 CBGA Youth Show held at the Red, White & Boer Show the CBGA gave out over $2000 in cash and prizes.
The market goat competition was very competitive and as always, we offered free showmanship classes. The 1st Annual
JABGA show had over 100 entries. Not bad at all for a 1st time show! The JABGA gave out $1300, plus silver belt buckles. Please contact

Market
Goat Support at County Fairs
The CBGA has supported kids at county fairs across the northwest
since 2006. Beginning in 2008 4H and FFA members are required to submit a letter to the CBGA secretary prior to their county
fair, and all those who have submitted letters and who win either champion or reserve champion market goat will be eligible
for a small cash award from the CBGA.
In 2010 we gave Certificates of Achievement
and embroidered sweatshirts to all Champions and Reserves around the NW who applied for it.
